Change Your Markup and Bill Rates

Modified on Fri, 30 Oct at 1:25 PM

Your markup is the gap between what you pay Crew and what you bill the client. In NextCrew it lives in the rate configuration, line by line, so change it there, then put the new rates on the orders that need them.

Summary

Each line of a rate configuration has a Pay Rate, a Mark Up and a Bill Rate. Enter a Mark Up and NextCrew works out the bill rate, or type the bill rate yourself. Overtime, double time, holiday and shift differential rates are set from the arrow on each line. A change applies to new orders. For orders you already created, refresh their rates. What goes wrong: changing a configuration that other clients share, so their bill rates change too.

How to do it

  1. Go to Settings › Company Profile › Rate Configurations and open the configuration.
  2. Check Associated Records at the top. If other clients use it and only one client's markup is changing, copy it and change the copy instead.
  3. On each position, change the Mark Up (or type the new Bill Rate), tick Apply and save.
  4. To change overtime, double-time, holiday or shift differential rates, click the arrow on the line, change them and click Update.
  5. For orders already created, open each one and choose ⋮ › Refresh Rates On All Jobs.

That's the new markup in place. Read on for one client, one person, and what happens to timesheets.

One client or every client

You want to changeDo this
Every client on this configurationChange the configuration itself.
One client onlyCopy the configuration, change the copy, and choose it in that client's Rate Configuration field. See Plan a Rate Increase.
One order onlyChoose a different configuration on the order. See Update the Rates on an Order.

One Crew Member only

Change the rate on that person's offer, not the configuration. Their offer is then Rate Locked, so refreshing the order won't overwrite it. See Pay One Crew Member a Different Rate on a Job.

What happens to timesheets

  • Timesheets already created keep the rates they had.
  • Timesheets created after you refresh take the new rates.
  • To fix a timesheet that has the old rate, change the rate on the timesheet. See Add, Clone or Fix a Timesheet.
