Why Domain Authentication is Necessary

Domain authentication is required because NextCrew sends email messages on your behalf using your domain through SendGrid. Without authentication, email providers may distrust these messages, increasing the likelihood that your emails are marked as spam or show "via sendgrid.net" beside the sender address. Authenticating your domain:

  • Improves deliverability and sender reputation

  • Helps ensure your emails reach the inbox, not spam folders

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Receive DNS Records

You will receive an email from us containing the DNS records (typically CNAME, DKIM, and possibly DMARC) that need to be added to your domain’s DNS settings.

Step 2: Log in to Your DNS Provider

  • Access your DNS provider’s dashboard (e.g., GoDaddy, Cloudflare, DigitalOcean, etc.)

Step 3: Add the Provided DNS Records

  • For each DNS record provided in our email:

    • Type: Usually CNAME (sometimes TXT for DMARC/SPF)

    • Name/Host: As specified in the instructions (e.g., s1._domainkey)

    • Value/Points to: The value provided (e.g., s1.domainkey.u123456.wl.sendgrid.net)

  • If your DNS provider has a proxy feature (like Cloudflare), turn off the proxy for CNAME records to ensure proper email routing

  • Save each record after entry.

Step 4: Wait for DNS Propagation

  • DNS changes may take up to 24–48 hours to propagate, but often update within an hour.

Step 5: Verify DNS Record Addition

  • Let the NextCrew team know that you have updated DNS

Step 6: Confirmation

  • Once verified, your domain is authenticated. NextCrew emails will now be sent as if they are directly from your domain, improving trust and deliverability
